Isopropyl alcohol and its uses in cleaning applications. Isopropyl alcohol, also known as isopropanol or IPA, is a colourless, flammable chemical compound. It is commonly used as a solvent, disinfectant, and cleaning agent due to its ability to dissolve a wide range of substances and its antimicrobial properties.

It can also be used for general cleaning purposes, including removing dirt, grease, and certain stains from various surfaces.

Cleaning the fiber with high purity of Isopropyl Alcohol is necessary to create a good bounding with the fiber. Lower grade alcohols contain H2O which could leave miniscule, small drops on the fiber which might be captured when inserting the fiber into the epoxy/ferrule. When heating the ferrule, the water needs to outgas, creating air-bubbles.
